Q: What types of concrete finishes are available?

A: Smiley's can provide you with a multitude of concrete finishes. These range from the most basic up to complex decorative slabs. Our finishes include: hard troweled, broomed, exposed aggregate, sand finish, stamped, acid stained, etc.

Q: What can I do to maintain my new concrete?

A: Properly taking care of your new concrete will keep it looking great and drastically improve the longevity of the slab. Here are a few things you can do to help,
-Clean the concrete and reapply sealer as needed.
-Remove stains immediately. If you notice an oil, gasoline, grease, or other spill, try to remove it as soon as possible.
-Avoid using salts or other deicing chemicals. These can seriously damage your concretes surface.
-Treat your concrete with care. Avoided dropping heavy objects on your slab or dragging heavy objects across the   surface of your concrete.

Q: Why does concrete crack?

A: Concrete, like all other materials, slightly changes in volume when it cures. Normally this amounts to about 500 millionths. This translates to about 1/16 of an inch in 10 feet. Smileys can install a generous amount of control joints (hand tooled or saw cut) to help hide the cracks and allow the concrete to crack in a uniform fashion.
